Summary Candidatus Evansia muelleri is a primary endosymbiont of Xenophyes cascus strain OF. This endosymbiont can synthesize all ten essential amino acids for Xenophyes cascus plus some non-essential ones. The symbiont retains an enriched sulfur metabolism in comparison to other extremely reduced primary insect endosymbionts. Candidatus Evansia muelleri forms a monophyletic clade with Candidatus Portiera aleyrodidarum and Candidatus Carsonella ruddii.

The PGDB was created from the annotated genome [SantosGarcia14a] by a team from the Cavanilles Institute of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology in Paterna, Spain, using the PathoLogic component of the Pathway Tools software [Karp11, Karp19] and the MetaCyc reference database [Caspi20]. The PGDB, which integrates the biochemical reaction network and metabolic pathways of the organism with its genome, was improved by limited manual curation.
